Wild Wednesday

Word prompt over at HS|MS (link on the side ---->) photo challenge is "wild". Not alot of wild in my space. Maybe the weather today. Going from dark brooding clouds, heavy rain to bright blue sky and sunshine. Weird. Wild. The only wild I could come up with is a photo of one of my Norwegian trolls. She is wild and has great wild hair. Completely untamed! I love these little trolls. I lived in Norway for four years and I just love their magical folklores.

Oh and of course, I had to do some art with the photo. Nice and grungy. Love grunge and texture.

All about work today. Gotta get a fair bit done and then tonight I think I'm going to some work in my art journal. Been thinking about printing off little copies of all my HS|MS photos and doing a collage in my journal.

Home Again Jiggety Jig

Went away for a long weekend up North to visit my in-laws. Had a super weekend visiting them as well as driving through some gorgeous villages in Lincolnshire including one called "Pinchbeck" which just happens to be our surname. How cool is that? Got some photos but still sorting them out so will post them tomorrow hopefully. Also visited RAF Coningsby where my beloved was posted way back when before I met him. So great to be able to visualise where he worked and lived when he talks about it. So yeah. A truly lovely weekend with great weather.

Oh and here's my HS|MS photo. Word of the day is "dairy". This is naughty dairy. A Mud Slide. Ice cream, cream, chocolate milk, rum, hmmmm ice all blended for a delish cocktail.

Twisted

Word prompt for today over at Her Space | My Space is "Twisted". Love that word. Don't know why. It means so many things. Love it. My twisted is from the harbour. I took this photo a couple of days ago. Hubby and I went to beach to take lots of photos for textures, in particular, grunge.

Hope everyone has a great Friday x

More Catch Up

I don't know where the time has gone. Ugh! Too much too fast. But that's good eh? Spent time working, clearing out the flat, being with my family and granddaughter and learning some new art and crafts. All good. Oh and I went to the Big Stamp thingy show at Ally Pally and it was really good. I watched a couple of cool demonstrations and bought some goodies. Mainly for my collage and mixed media art as opposed to scrapbooking.

As for work, I've been doing a lot of texture work. These are textures for 3d models. Mainly 3d clothing models. I use 3d character design software called Poser and also Daz Studio for creating some of my digital art and I love creating textures for the clothes that you can buy for the 3d models. Oh and my hubby is a 3d modeller (for those that didn't know) and I often work with him creating textures. Here's a couple of examples of work I've just finished.

What else? Oh yeah. I did some doodling this morning and created another blended art image of me and hubby. Notice my new hair cut! Too short. But it's nice not fussing about it every day. Going to grow it out.

And HS|MS. Totally missed loads of word prompts. Sorry guys. Managed to do one for today - delicate. This is a photo of my daughter I took a couple of weeks ago. She's really into bead making and it's just such delicate work and so fiddly. I love all the things she does and love that she's so crafty like me! x

That Time of Year

Spring clean! Yep. Just spent 2 days having a really good sort out and thorough clean. Just had to do it. Felt like the right time to do it. Steve went to the tip with loads of rubbish and we've got a bin load of stuff for the charity shops. Yay. Feels so good.

I actually find that I can't create very well if my environment is too messy. Just me. I like things to be in order, tidy and clean. Doesn't always stay like that. Ha! Although I do a deep clean at least once a week and tidy up most days. However, this was a mega once a year clean where we pulled everything out of the cupboards, from under the bed and anywhere else hoarding was going on.

Oh and perfect timing. I'm going to Ikea and Hobbycraft with my daughter and daughter-in-law this week. Hmmm craft supplies. Art supplies. Creative storage solutions. I can honestly say that I love that kind of shopping far more than buying clothes or make-up. Yep. Girl of simple pleasures and needs. Not high maintenance at all.

Getting My Hands Dirty

My darling hubby recently bought me a load of art supplies and I've been putting them to good use. It's kinda strange. Going from digital to traditional. It's usually the other way round. Although I like to think of it as truly mixed-media art in as much as I use my computer (for creating some text and patterned paper) as well as using traditional supplies. I'll photograph my efforts in the next couple of days and show them here.

After many years bringing up my kids - a job well done and one that I'd do again, I might add - it's nice to have some time for me. To truly explore my creative side. The artist in me. Both my parents are artists. My mum's a published poet and when I was a little girl she was fab at making lots of things for my Sindy dolls (not Barbie!). So creative. And I used to spend many hours watch my dad paint. He mainly used oils and acrylics as well as doing lots of sketching.

So yeah. I'm taking time to get truly creative the way I've always wanted to. Just for me. I was only 19 when I first married and had kids so this is the first time I've really had to myself. I'm blessed to be married to someone who's also an artist - more traditional - oils - whereas I'm very experimental along the collage mixed media route. Steve's so supportive and really encourages me to get into creative expression.

Oh and it means our dining room table and that part of the room (we have a through lounge/dining area) is now taken up with all my craft and art supplies. Yep!

Gotta Play Catch Up

My poor blog's been so neglected ugh! Life's been so full over the past couple of weeks. Lots to do. Places to go. People to meet. Art to create. Shopping to be done.

Talking of art and shopping, I'm off to the Alexandra Palace tomorrow to The Big Stamp & Scrapbooking show. Just me. On my own. Well, hubby is driving me up there as he wants to go off to do some photography but I'll be wandering round that huge place on my ownsome. I'm actually really looking forward to it. As much as I'd love to go with friends and meet up with people I know online, I like the idea of really being able to concentrate and shop with purpose! ha!

So I will be back here soon with a real update and more photos for HS|MS as well as from all my adventures over the past couple of weeks.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

Wee Small Hours

Insomnia has hit. It's the small wee hours so thought I'd ramble here for a while.

Jenni's home. She arrived home safely Saturday morning. We haven't really stopped since then. She did sleep some odd hours the first couple of days due to jet lag. Done what all girls love to do: talk and shop. Yep. It's been a wonderful few days.

She's really into beading/making her own costume jewellry and it's so beautiful. Took some photos and will grabe them from the camera in the next couple of days. I just loved looking at the beads in all their little pots. Oooh beads. It's such a girly thing eh? Love that she's so crafty like her mum! I must admit I felt a real urging to play with those beads. I think I feel a new hobby coming on!

But really I need to finish up a ton of half finished craft products before taking on anything else. Plus, I've got a bit of a bug wanting to splash paint and stick bits on canvasses and journals. Yep. Think I'm going to do some art journalling. And maybe do some altered art pieces. Oh and then there's my work which isn't that far removed from the crafts that I love. It's all about creative expression.
